Stat 100 Homework Policy

All homework is done online using LON-CAPA. Homework is due twice a week at midnight (11:59 pm). See the course calendar for due dates.

You can look on Compass to see how many points each homework is worth and how many points you were awarded. Ignore the gradebook on Lon Capa, we're ONLY using the Compass gradebook.

You can use any computer, but if you have trouble accessing any of the programs or need any type of help, you need to go to the Statistics Computer Lab in 23 Illini Hall where Stat 100 TAs and instructors are available to offer help.

Lon-Capa grades your work immediately, and gives you the opportunity to submit your answers multiple times until you get it correct. Most of our Lon Capa homework is randomized, so everyone will get different numbers for the same problems.

No Late homework

Late homework is NOT accepted on Lon-Capa. However, Lon-Capa grades each problem in the assignment separately, so if you do 70% of the homework correctly before the due date, you'll get credit for that 70%.

READ THIS: However, I do understand there are circumstances where you miss a homework assignment. To account for the fact that Lon Capa does not accept late homework, I will drop your 3 lowest homework scores at the end of the semester. This means that you can miss up to 3 full assignments without any penalty. However, these are the lowest scores by percent. So even if you get a 0/10 on one assignment and a 4/41 on another assignment, the 0/10 is dropped since that is a lower percentage (although the 4/41 would hurt your overall percentage more).
